Together with the biologist and globally successful techno DJ Dominik Eulberg & experts, we go to a large backyard in Kreuzberg, in the former rollercoach and export district. Here we invite you to an unusual open-air show on the subject of biodiversity, which is being designed together with scientists and artists from various fields.

The host is a techno DJ with a message. The place, one of the hotspots of the techno scene: the Ritter Butzke. The audience embarks on a varied journey through the wonders of the local nature: a mixture of pointed live lectures with unusual facts and pictures by the entomologist Thomas Hörren and the nightingale scientist Dr. Kim Mortega (Museum für Naturkunde Berlin), with breathtaking film recordings by the renowned and multiple award-winning nature filmmaker Jan Haft, flanked by the extraordinary sounds from synths and natural sounds by the raving ornithologist and bat expert Eulberg. The evening culminates in a sonorous chill-out, a live set in the listed courtyard of the Ritter Butzke and celebrates the greatest artist of all: nature.

Nature doesn't need us humans, we need nature. (Dominik Eulberg, ornithologist & techno DJ)

Dominik Eulberg from Westerwald is a successful techno DJ and producer worldwide and has received numerous awards for his musical work. The biology graduate is also committed to nature awareness and the protection of native biodiversity. Eulberg is a colorful jack-of-all-trades: He is an ambassador for many nature conservation organizations, including NABU, a guest scientist at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, developed the multimedia bird quartet "Fliegende Edelsteine" ("Flying Gems"), works continuously with nature filmmaker Jan Haft on TV and feature films, and has just published his book "Mikroorgasmen überall" ("Microorganisms Everywhere") (Eichborn-Verlag) about the biodiversity on Germany's doorstep. His commitment was recently recognized with a nomination for the German Environmental Media Award.

The entomologist Thomas Hörren is a biologist and author and has been exploring the local insect diversity since his youth. He is a member of the Krefeld Entomological Society and in 2017 was co-author of the "Krefeld Study", which triggered the socio-political debate on insect mortality worldwide. He prefers to explore his crawling objects in nature reserves. Particularly in dead wood, he has tracked down numerous species threatened with extinction. Together with colleagues, Hörren is currently investigating the diversity of insect species in German protected areas and is even looking for completely unknown micro flies and mini wasps. As @totholz.thomas he is active on Instragram and brings his knowledge entertainingly closer to a wide audience.

Dr. Kim Mortega is a biologist and nightingale expert at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, where she led the projects "WissensFluss - Die Berliner Panke" and "Forschungsfall Nachtigall". The bioacoustician and enthusiastic scientist already dedicated her diploma thesis to Berlin's nightingales, of which an estimated 3,000 individuals live in gardens, parks, railroad tracks and crossings from Grunewald to Pankow, making Berlin the city of nightingales. Kim Mortega also conducts research on biodiversity in Africa. She is a lecturer at the Tropical Biology Association in Tanzania, Madagascar and Malaysia and a member of the DAAD Quality Network Biodiversity Kenya.
